That’s More Like It

Hooray for Snow! —and the return of winter, if just for a day or two. We woke up to a lovely spring snowfall yesterday—not too cold, and very fluffy. The moisture in the air felt great!

I set up to paint under the hatchback of my car at the East Boulder Rec. Center after ballet class…

These trees look good in the photo, but I decided to obliterate them in my painting. I was going for the color and subtle values behind them.

It was really nice to be out painting, though the wind began blowing in my direction, bringing wet snow into my palette, which then froze. It was kind of interesting (and tricky) to paint with the frozen paint.

Eventually it became a losing battle with the icy paint and I packed it in to go look for another spot…

I went over to Sawhill Ponds, but just as I got out of the car to set up my easel, the wind picked up—a lot!

Here are a couple of pics I snapped on my way home…

So beautiful! Such drama!

For those who are not too keen on this kind of weather, (and those of us who like it) here is a local event perfectly timed:

Niwot's Wine about Winter flyer

I’ll be working at Niwot’s Osmosis Gallery tomorrow during this event. So come in from the cold, check out our beautiful showing of local artist’s work (including mine) and I’ll pour you a taste!
